ALUCOM AG, headquartered in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, offers its customers solutions for the chemical industry, paper, and water treatment based on its own aluminum compounds. The construction industry also benefits from specialized aluminum compounds.
We are among the largest producers of aluminum compounds such as inorganic precipitants, setting accelerators, special aluminum hydroxides, polyaluminum chlorides (such as PAC and ACH), aluminum sulfates, aluminum formates, and sodium aluminates, as well as mixtures e.g. with iron salts and polymers.

Scopes

History / Production Site

- 1823: Paul Giulini, together with his brother Johann-Baptist Giulini, founds the “Schwefelsäurefabrik Wohlgelegen” sulfuric acid plant in Mannheim. After internal disputes, it was renamed “Gebrüder Giulini”.
- 1851: New construction of the plant in Ludwigshafen (sulfuric acid, soda using the Le Blanc process…)
- 1865: Commencement of alumina production using French bauxite. Use of pyrite for sulfuric acid production.
- 1893: Relocation of the production facility to its current location in Ludwigshafen Mundenheim. Expansion to include fertilizers and phosphate salts, focusing on aluminum and aluminum compounds.
Georg Giulini (le roi d‘alumine) expands and develops the plant in Ludwigshafen
(Pyrogen process, further development of the Bayer process…). After the Second World War, construction of an aluminum smelter. - 1977: ICL takes over the aluminum salts, phosphate salts, fertilizers, and gypsum divisions, Alcoa the aluminum hydroxides and oxides division, and ALCAN the aluminum smelter.
- 2015: Kurita Europe takes over the aluminum salts, polymers, paper chemicals, and water treatment chemicals divisions from ICL.
- 2018: LIVIA Group takes over the aluminum salts division on 01.10.2018: → new company name: ALUCOM AG.
- 2025: The VTA Group takes over ALUCOM AG.

Our products are used for drinking water and wastewater treatment as well as for increasing the efficiency of industrial processes and thus also for reducing climate-damaging emissions.
